MORE ABOUT THIS BOOKManu National Park is a virgin rain forest about the size of Rhode Island. Visitors are only allowed in the multiple use section that borders the eastern edge of the park, and a small section that surrounds the confluence of the Rivers Manu and Madre de Dios. The rest of the park is sanctuary for native tribes that have no connection whatsoever with outsiders, though they've been sighted from air. Unesco claimed the park "A World Heritage" site in 1987, and it is internationally recognized as one of the most biodiverse areas on Earth. It has preserved its flora and fauna because this remote site at the foot of the Andes is so difficult to reach.
